Ontario Hickory Tour Kick-off - Merry Hill Friday May 31, 2013

The first Ontario Hickory Tour event of the 2013 season was played at the Merry Hill GC in Breslau, Ontario, on Friday, May 31.

We had a large field -- nineteen in all -- who enjoyed playing this well groomed golf course.

We played our usual game -- a match against each of the other players in the field, and a skins game.

Winners of skins, and fifty points were ...

Paul Dietz  -- hole # 2
Ron Dunn -- hole #5
Vern P -- hole # 6
Don Emerick -- hole #8
Bill Vossen -- hole #13
Peter Van Beurden -- hole #14

Vern P had the low round of the day, a 72, on the par 63 course.

Jim Wilhelm shot 77 and Paul Dietz had a 78.

Final results -- First event of 2013

(Match points + Skins points = Total points scored for the day),

Vern P -- 251.0 + 50.0 = 301.0

Our next Ontario Hickory Tour event ....

will be played at Niagara-on-the-Lake GC on Friday, June 21, with a start time of 10:00 am.

If you intend to play, please contact by June 12.

We will be playing in two divisions, hoping to get maximum participation in the event.

Those who wish to play pre-1900 gutty golf may do so in the Old Tom Morris division.  I do not yet have gutty balls, so please bring along any that you have from past events.

Those without pre-1900 equipment, or those who prefer post-1900 golf may use their modern hickories in the Bobby Jones division.

I do have several loaner sets of pre-1900 equipment.  If you would like to borrow pre-1900 clubs please let me know asap -- first come, first serve.

See you at Niagara!
