The first GSHC Hickory Hackers Scramble event of 2018 took place at Sawmill Golf Club near Fenwick Ontario on Monday May 28th, 2018. Our gracious hosts for the day were GHSC members and course owners George and Gail Julie, and their son Jeremy.
The weather was fine and hot, but relieved by a little wind, and the course was in beautiful condition.
Scores were excellent, ranging from one to eight under par - and the course was no push-over.
After play, participants and guests enjoyed refreshments and a chicken dinner in the clubhouse.
A brief General Meeting was held, and GHSC Treasurer Ian Clarke gave a report on the state of the society to all present. Membership is holding steady, and we are in good financial shape.
It was intended that this event honour the memory of GHSC founder Bob Nutley, and Norm Moreau, now the only surviving founder of the GHSC, attended, with his wife Noi and two guests, and Norm gave us an address, fondly recalling his friend and co-founder, Bob Nutley.
Frank Collis, who has taken fine photographs for us at so many events, unfortunately had to miss this event. Marg Marshall, our co-host Gail Julie, and Russell Dick stepped into the breach to supply us with some pictures.
