On Wednesday October 3rd, 2018, a small contingent of GHSC members (and some helpers) were at Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club near Barrie, Ontario to take give students in the Georgian College Golf Facilities Operation Management program a chance to experience playing with hickory clubs.
GHSC President David Burgess, who lives in the Barrie area, has coordinated with those running the course at Georgian College to arrange this event for five running years now. This gives the students in the program a unique way to experience golf as it was played 100 years or so ago.
This year, as often previously, the weather was somewhat cold and blustery - only to be expected this far North late in the season. A little rain fell on participants during the event, also, but this did not stop all involved from having a good time.
Year after year this has proved a very worthwhile experience for the students and for the GHSC participants. Thanks to GHSC President David Burgess and Georgian College Convenor Tim Zado for making it happen again in 2018.
