Hickory Hackers Scramble & GHSC AGM — Thornhill ON — May 26, 2017
Twenty-eight players participated at the historic Uplands Golf Club. This Stanley Thompson designed track has been a Toronto favourite for many years. Despite the weather being somewhat uncooperative, the second GHSC event of the season took place Friday May 26th. This nine hole course turned out to be on the light side…with only 8 holes playable. Unfortunately, those participating had to be content with viewing rather than playing the signature 8th hole – renowned for its beauty and difficulty!
We got through the round without precipitation which was highly unpredictable in view of Mother Nature being relentless to date.
The results were as follows:
Players Scores
Stewart/ Southall/Chandler/Archer 27
Parker/Holland/Hart 28
Petry/Matlock/Blocksidge/Achtymichuk 29
Julie/Vossen/VanBeurden/Wiens 29
Marshall/McArthur/Harper/Lapidus 30
Clarke/Mihm/Moreau/Moreau 30
Burgess/Soetens/Kostandoff/Whelan 33
Most dedicated participant was Paul Dietz who made the long journey from Sarnia to Toronto without playing golf!!
The annual meeting took place with Ron Archer taking minutes. Basically an update was provided of activities this past year along with upcoming plans for the balance of the season. We enjoyed a great luncheon and a heated swap session of treasured golf artifacts.
Thanks to Jeff Rogers for arranging this event.
