GHSC News Item: July 6, 2022 – Guttyfest ’22 Coming Soon! (2022)

Come and join us for the second annual GHSC GUTTYFEST at Oak Gables in Ancaster, Ontario. A great wee course with hillocks, humplocks, gullies, ponds and wee greens with devilish grassy bunkers, all that is missing is good folk dressed for gowf and flailing away with hickory sticks at reformed gutta percha. This was also the site of last year’s Guttyfest event.

The skirmish against this course is:

• FRIDAY, AUGUST 5, 2022
• FIRST TEE OFF 10:00am (so better check in at 09:30 latest)
• COST:  18 HOLES WALKING $30 (VIP rate)
• CART:   $12.50 PER PERSON
• MEAL (optional):   $17  HICKORY BURGER, FRIES AND ONE DRAUGHT

Pre-1900 clubs and gutty replica balls will be used (unless you have a dodgy lie and prefer to lose a modern ball). Yellow tee blocks will be used. Scoring will be our regular Stableford system. (Shotguns are optional).

Prizes may be awarded for outstanding gamespersonship on the battlefield and decorum on patio.

While we are encouraging participation with pre-1900 equipment and balls,  if you just want to get out and join old friends and make new ones we will kinda welcome participation with Post-1900 and Pyratone—modern balls will reluctantly be tolerated although white tee blocks will be used. (Just joking about reluctantly).

Let’s get Historical Gowf (yes it is spelled correctly) off the ground again with this event. Have fun and celebrate history.

Please sign up early so we know how many foursomes we need. Loaner pre-1900 clubs are available (reserve early ….. sobbing frowned upon if you miss it).
