GHSC News Item: August 14, 2021 Celebration of 100th Anniversary

Location: North Bay G&CC, North Bay ON

Reported by: George Supol, GHSC Board Member

On August 14, 2021, 13 GHSC Hickory Ambassadors, representing at least three of the Society’s Regional Play Groups, travelled to North Bay to help further develop the GHSC North Bay Players Group and also to help North Bay Golf & Country Club celebrate its 100th anniversary.

GHSC members, Lorne Emery and George Supol put up a display of their own hickory golf club collections at the course and made themselves available to interact with the Club’s members who were interested in learning more about the the type of clubs that were in use back in the early days of the Club’s operations.

Later, NBGCC Director of Golf, Jeff Mancini, treated GHSC members with lunch and a round of hickory golf with Club members interested in trying hickory golf. Our Hickory Ambassadors provided guidance to first-time hickory players and a fun time was had by all.

NBG&CC is a Stanley Thompson golf course (a real gem!) and the weather was perfect. Here is a link to some historical information about North Bay Golf and Country Club.
