Dundas Valley (2024)

GHSC News Item: October 19, 2024 – Dundas Valley (2024)

Reported by: George Supol, GHSC Hickory Ambassador

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Golf Historical Society of Canada (GHSC) once again returned to Dundas Valley Golf Course for a hickory golf play event. This is one of our favourite, well-attended hickory play events each year, and the course is historical (late 1920’s era). It was designed by the famous golf architect Stanley Thompson and is consistently rated as one of Canada’s top 100 golf courses.

The weather was just fine (12-15 degrees) and the course was lush and soft. The greens were still very fast – 11 on sm, probably the most difficult that we played all year, and this was reflected in lower Modified Stableford Points than normal for our 30 participating players.

Special thanks go to Bill Southall and Lorne Emery for organizing this event, and to the Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club for making the course and clubhouse available to GHSC members.

Below are some pics we took at Dundas Valley. The Stableford winners, closest-to-the-pin and draw prize winners are presented. Click on an image to see a larger version.

(Another fun historical golf experience.)
